Facilitation game lab: navigating artful participation
The big picture
During this facilitation game lab I propose facilitators try out short sessions where participants will be roleplaying certain typical unartful participation. Meaning they will try to make your life difficult, counteract or challenge you in your facilitation. After the session we will provide peer-feedback on the facilitation and hopefully together come up with other ideas to help you navigate people towards artful participation.
We welcome you at 17:30 and we propose you get your dinner at the Albert Heyn downstairs. This way everyone can choose their favourite food and drinks. We will provide free water and some healthy snacks during the evening. We aim to start the session at 18:15 so the first facilitation round can start at 18:30.
The timetable (give or take)
17:30 - 18:00 dinner
18:00 - 18:15 general introduction
18:15 - 18:30 first session prep
18:30 - 19:00 first session facilitation
19:00 - 19:30 debrief
19:30 - 19:45 second session prep
19:45 - 20:15 second session facilitation
20:15 - 20:45 debrief
20:45 - 21:00 third session prep
21:00 - 21:30 third session facilitation
21:30 - 22:00 debrief
22:00 - 22:15 closing of the evening
This is a retreat format, which means that you can join in and leave when it's best for you. Depending on the situation at hand, we might use this in the facilitation of the running session.
With regard to the content of the sessions that will be facilitated, we will provide some ideas to pick from and some techniques to try for these specific topics. You are of course perfectly free to bring along your topic and workshop design. Just keep in mind that the sessions will be 30 minute workshops.
